About this position
We’re hiring a postdoc in Explainable AI × Causal Inference at the University of Potsdam.
The position is part of CRC 1294 “Data Assimilation” and sits in the AI in the Sciences group, working closely with Jakob Runge’s group and Marina Höhne’s group. The research focus combines causal discovery, effect estimation, approaches based on prior-data fitted networks (PFNs), and concept-based XAI, including the study of causal mechanisms inside neural networks.
This is a full-time E13 TV-L role, funded until June 2029, with no teaching duties. The environment is described as highly interdisciplinary, spanning mathematics, statistics, and the geosciences.
They are looking for someone with a strong machine learning background and experience in either XAI or causal inference, plus interest in learning the other side. Experience with time series data is a plus.
To apply, send your CV and a short note on your background and interests by message or email to Jakob Runge. The post does not mention a formal deadline or application portal.
