About this position

Postdoc in Marine Hydrodynamics & Mooring at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering (DTU Construct).

This postdoctoral opportunity is part of a recently granted Horizon Europe project in which DTU is a partner. The project focuses on next-generation digital twins for offshore wind infrastructures, combining physical and data-driven models to support modelling, monitoring, and life-cycle assessment of floating offshore systems.

The successful candidate will strengthen DTU’s expertise in offshore floating infrastructure modelling and positioning systems in ocean environments. Core research tasks include developing and validating a fully coupled hydro-aero-servo-elastic floating offshore wind turbine model in OpenFAST; building data-driven surrogate models for floater motion, mooring tension, and tower dynamic response; developing algorithms to reconstruct full-field structural states from limited measurements and environmental/operational inputs; and establishing a framework for fatigue damage evaluation and continuous remaining useful life (RUL) updating for key structural components.

The role also includes contributing to research-based teaching and supervision of MSc students, and working closely with academic and industrial partners across Europe. The post is aimed at a highly motivated researcher with a PhD or equivalent, a strong background in marine hydrodynamics and mooring, and substantial experience in modelling floating offshore wind infrastructures.

Employment is full-time for two years, with an expected start date of 1 November 2026 or by mutual agreement. The appointment follows the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations, and salary supplements may be negotiated according to DTU’s scientific staff salary structure.

Funding details
