About this position

Postdoc opportunity at Northeastern University London in the Network Science Institute on a new 3-year Leverhulme Trust-funded project: Rethinking Epidemic Models: Integrating Human Behaviour and Psychology.

The project develops a new generation of agent-based epidemic models that combine disease transmission with psychologically grounded human behaviour, including social identity, group norms, information trust, and risk perception. The work sits at the intersection of mathematical epidemiology, network science, agent-based modelling, computational modelling, and social psychology.

You will help build computational models and an open-source modelling platform as part of an interdisciplinary team spanning Northeastern University London, the University of Sussex, and Utrecht University/RIVM.

Eligibility highlights: PhD (or near completion) in a relevant quantitative discipline; experience in agent-based, computational, or mathematical modelling; strong programming skills in Python, R, or C++; and interest in epidemiology, network science, and/or behavioural modelling.

Location: London, United Kingdom. Start date: 4 January 2027. Salary: £43,555–£46,195. Closing date: 22 September 2026, with rolling review and encouragement for early applications.

Apply via the linked job posting for full details and submission instructions.
