About this position

Institut de Biologie Structurale (IBS), Grenoble, is advertising a 12-month postdoc/researcher position in biophysics focused on the behavior of proteins within and on the surface of biomolecular condensates.

The position will be hosted in the newly established Nicola Galvanetto Lab (Single-Molecule Biophysics, IBS Grenoble), within the Protein Dynamics division led by Martin Blackledge. The lab works in experimental biophysics, especially single-molecule fluorescence, smFRET, custom optical microscopy, protein dynamics, and the study of intrinsically disordered proteins and phase separation.

The project includes research activities such as innovating smFRET methods to measure protein dynamics on condensate surfaces, analyzing smFRET data, expressing/purifying/labeling proteins, and potentially developing electrophysiology measurements to probe voltage within biomolecular condensates.

Eligibility highlights: a PhD is required, with 1–4 years of relevant experience. Preferred expertise includes single-molecule methods, custom optical microscopes, data analysis and coding, protein expression/purification/labeling, and other biophysical methods for protein characterization. Fluent English is required; non-French-speaking candidates should be willing to learn basic French.

Funding and contract: full-time 12-month contract, with remuneration between €3,041.58 and €4,216.70 depending on experience. The role is funded by the ATIP program and the Ernst Hadorn Foundation.

Deadline: apply before 26 June 2026, 23:59. The starting date is 1 November 2026.

Interested candidates should apply via the CNRS job portal link and review the full offer details before submitting an application.
