About this position
The Friesen group at the NNF Center of Stem Cell Medicine (reNEW), within the Department of Biomedical Sciences and the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen, is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to work at the interface of stem cell biology and metabolism.
The project focuses on understanding how cells move from a healthy state into insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes, and on exploring how that process can be reversed. The lab uses human pluripotent stem cell (hPSC)-derived in vitro disease models that are intended to closely reflect the in vivo cell state, and the research aims to uncover the molecular mechanisms underlying metabolism and insulin signaling across different cell types.
As a postdoctoral researcher, you will help design experimental strategies, carry out wet-lab biology experiments, analyze data, and contribute to scientific writing and presentation. The role also includes potential involvement in grant applications and research-based supervision of MSc or PhD students. Because this is a founding position in a new lab, you will have an early opportunity to shape the team’s research direction, culture, and ongoing projects.
The position is embedded in a translational research environment centered on metabolic disease, with a focus on improving hPSC-derived disease models and using them to deepen understanding of disease mechanisms and support translational strategies.
Max Friesen is listed as the contact person for further information.
