Wageningen University & Research is advertising a Postdoc researcher in transitions to nature-inclusive farming systems within the Animal Production Systems group.

The project sits at the intersection of agriculture, biodiversity, ecosystem services, sustainability transitions, and the design of reward schemes for farmers. The postdoc will contribute to two research projects: ECOPESIA (EU Horizon Europe) and DECISION (NWO-KIC), both focused on developing approaches that support the transition to nature-inclusive or biodiversity-positive dairy and livestock systems in the EU and the Netherlands.

Research tasks include developing analytical frameworks for schemes such as payment for ecosystem services, agri-environmental schemes, nature credits, and result-based finance; mapping and assessing policy frameworks at global, EU, and Dutch levels; proposing policy recommendations; supporting project coordination; and contributing to scientific and policy outputs. The role also includes teaching support and supervision of MSc and BSc students.

Applicants should have a PhD in farming systems analysis and development, sustainability transitions, agricultural or environmental economics, or a related field. The post requires experience with inter- and transdisciplinary research, mixed quantitative and qualitative methods, multi-scale assessments, strong publication record, and excellent English communication skills; Dutch is preferred. Experience with project management and EU/NWO projects is an advantage.

The position is based at Wageningen University & Research in the Netherlands. Salary is competitive, ranging from €3,546 to €5,538 gross per month for a full-time 38-hour week, with standard WUR benefits. The contract is initially for one year and may be extended for the project duration of two years.
