Postdoc in Virome-wide Serology and Pandemic Preparedness KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden

KTH Royal Institute of Technology is recruiting a postdoc in virome-wide serology and pandemic preparedness. The project is led by Axel Olin at KTH and is part of a research program funded by the Swedish Research Council.

The research focuses on understanding how viral infections spread through populations, how individuals differ in their antibody responses, and how this knowledge can improve future infectious disease surveillance. The postdoc will establish and optimize PhIP-seq and other high-throughput serological assays in the lab, with work spanning molecular biology, immunology, assay development, cloning, PCR, sequencing, and serological analysis. The project also connects to innovative blood self-sampling approaches and population-scale studies of antiviral immunity in Sweden.

This is a multidisciplinary environment involving collaborators in immunology, affinity proteomics, epidemiology, and computational biology. The role is especially suitable for candidates interested in infectious disease biology, translational research, and method development with clear public-health relevance.

Eligibility highlights: a doctoral degree or equivalent foreign degree is required by the time of the employment decision. Strong background in molecular biology, immunology, genetics, or a related field is expected. Hands-on experience with cloning, PCR, sequencing, western blotting, and bacterial culture is important; phage display experience is a merit. A PhD obtained within the last three years is preferred, and experience in human immunology and serological analysis is also advantageous.
