About this position
Postdoctoral position open in stem cells, restorative neurology, and stroke research at Lund University. The project is connected to the Zaal Kokaia group and the Lund Stem Cell Center, with a strong translational neuroscience environment and access to advanced facilities for cell biology, animal behavior, electrophysiology, imaging, FACS, MRI, single-cell profiling, and bioinformatics.
The research framework focuses on developing new therapeutic strategies for stroke by: (1) generating and transplanting human induced transcallosal projection neurons (hiTCPNs) and oligodendrocytes (hiOLs) to restore interhemispheric balance and improve recovery; (2) studying how neuroinflammation affects graft integration and network reconstruction, including the role of transplanted hiMonos; and (3) building a human ex vivo microfluidic organotypic stroke-on-a-chip model to study pathology, regeneration, and validation of human cell-based therapies.
Successful candidates are expected to prepare a research proposal outline aligned with one of these themes. The post is explicitly advertised as a postdoc position. Deadline mentioned in the post: 20 August.
