About this position

Several postdoc positions are open at the Department of Chemistry, University of Copenhagen, in the area of organic chemistry and materials chemistry. The project, FUTURPLAST, focuses on developing the next generation of circular, strong, lightweight super materials for sustainable industrial polymer products.

The research is highly interdisciplinary and combines organic synthesis, supramolecular chemistry, polymer science, nanomaterials, nanocomposites, and materials mechanics. The work will be carried out in collaboration with Nanocore and industrial partners Grundfos and SP Group, with support from Innovation Fund Denmark under the Grand Solutions program.

Successful candidates will work in the groups of Prof. Mogens B. Nielsen, Prof. Jørn B. Christensen, and Prof. Michael Pittelkow. The postdoc roles involve research on CNT/PP-based materials, functionalization chemistry, polymer processing, and prototyping for industrial applications. Teaching duties may also be included.

Applicants should have strong experience in organic synthesis, macromolecular/intermolecular interactions, or dynamic covalent chemistry. Additional strengths in wet chemistry, polymerization kinetics, thermodynamics, structure-property relationships, and characterization methods such as Raman, TEM, SEM, and X-ray are desirable.

The positions are full time and last 1–3 years. The start date is 1 October 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. The application deadline is 7 July 2026 at 23:59 GMT+1.

Apply through the University of Copenhagen job portal and include a CV, diplomas, at least two scientific references, and a complete publication list.
