About this position
MIND-MAP (Microglia Integrative Network of Dynamics – Morphology, Analysis, and Prediction) is an interdisciplinary and international FWF WEAVE project led across groups in Austria, Poland, and the Czech Republic. The project studies how the dynamic 3D morphology of microglia reflects functional states in the healthy adult brain.
The postdoc will join a research effort that combines state-of-the-art microscopy, machine learning, numerical modeling, and topological data analysis to build next-generation computational tools for quantifying microglial morphology and dynamics. The aim is to create a predictive framework linking cell shape to brain function and to develop open-source methods for the quantitative analysis of complex cellular morphology.
This role is designed for a quantitative researcher who wants to create new mathematical and computational approaches while working closely with experimental neuroscientists. The work centers on multidimensional biological image data and computational analysis of geometric, topological, temporal, and statistical properties of cellular structures.
The position is based at the Institute of Science and Technology Austria in Klosterneuburg near Vienna, within an international and interdisciplinary environment that supports research at the interface of computation and life sciences.
