About this position

The Advanced Translational Genetics (ATG) Lab at the Innovative Genomics Institute, University of California, Berkeley is recruiting a postdoctoral scholar to work at the intersection of stem cell disease modeling and precision medicine. The project focuses on uncovering the genetic and molecular basis of human disease by building and studying high-throughput pluripotent stem cell models.

The successful postdoctoral researcher will contribute to a research program that combines precise genome editing, automated cell engineering, multiplexed CRISPR screening, single-cell multi-omics, and AI-assisted modeling. The work is designed to create cell type-specific disease models that can accelerate therapeutic discovery across a range of human conditions, including oncology, neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders, and metabolic disease.

In the lab, the postdoc will lead research projects involving engineering and differentiating induced pluripotent stem cells into disease-relevant cell types, then functionally characterizing these models using molecular biology, sequencing, imaging, and biochemical assays. The role also includes designing and executing scaled CRISPR discovery workflows and developing computational approaches to integrate complex phenotypic and multi-omic datasets.

The position is embedded in an active translational genomics environment at UC Berkeley and the Innovative Genomics Institute, with opportunities to work closely with the Principal Investigator and contribute to a collaborative research team. The postdoc is also expected to mentor graduate and undergraduate students, help prepare manuscripts, and support grant development for ongoing and future projects.
