About this position

The Stomatal Biology group at the University of Bern is offering a fully funded postdoctoral position focused on vein-stomatal signalling in grass leaf development. The project sits at the intersection of plant developmental genetics, cell biology, and gas-exchange physiology, and aims to understand how grass leaves spatially coordinate the development of veins and stomata.

The successful candidate will join the Institute of Plant Sciences in Bern and work within the research unit Cereal Stem Cell Systems (RU52350). The position is based in a vibrant, collaborative research setting with access to state-of-the-art infrastructure and links to the Microscope Imaging Centre and the Oeschger Centre for Climate Change Research.

This is a postdoctoral position for 2 years with a possible extension. The role is fully funded. Applicants should have a completed PhD in plant biology, developmental biology, molecular biology, or a related field, together with strong English communication skills and hands-on experience in molecular genetics, microscopy, and cell biology. Experience with model grass species, plant signalling, protein biochemistry, or single-cell/spatial transcriptomics is advantageous.
