About this position

Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST) is advertising Postdoc and Staff Scientist positions in the Organic Optoelectronics Unit (Kabe Unit) for research on perovskite materials, organic photovoltaics, thin films, and solar cell device fabrication.

The project focuses on synthesis and characterization of transparent absorbers, charge-transport layers, and electrodes; lead-based 3D/2D, lead-free, and/or inorganic transparent perovskites; fabrication and characterization of complete transparent perovskite solar cells; and indoor/outdoor operational stability analysis. The role is well suited to candidates with experience in surface science, vacuum processing, thin-film deposition, and advanced characterization.

Eligibility highlights: a PhD in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or Engineering is required. For the Staff Scientist track, more than 5 years of research experience after the PhD is required. Strong English writing and communication skills are required. Preferred experience includes transparent or semi-transparent solar cells, solution/vacuum thin-film processing, J-V/EQE/stability testing, and techniques such as UV-Vis, XPS, UPS, LEIPS, SEM, AFM, and XRD.

Funding and benefits: the postdoctoral salary is expected to be 4.5M–5.9M yen per year, while the Staff Scientist salary is expected to be 5.0M–7.5M yen per year. OIST also offers relocation, housing, and commuting allowances, health insurance, pension insurance, accident compensation insurance, paid leave, summer holidays, and other employment benefits.

How to apply: combine your application documents into one MS Word or PDF file and email it to [email protected]. The application should include a CV and a summary of previous research; two reference letters will be required if shortlisted. Applications are accepted until the positions are filled, so early submission is recommended.

Institution: Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University, Japan.
