About this position

Argonne National Laboratory is advertising a Postdoctoral Appointee in chemical recycling of polymers and organometallic catalysis at the Chemical Sciences and Engineering Division in Lemont, Illinois, United States.

The successful candidate will join the Polymer Upcycling Team and contribute to a collaborative, multidisciplinary research program focused on sustainable materials and fundamental mechanistic studies. Research tasks include designing, synthesizing, and characterizing new recyclable polymer systems; evaluating thermomechanical properties; and investigating catalytic reaction mechanisms using reaction kinetics and complementary physical organic/inorganic chemistry methods.

Eligibility highlights include a recent or soon-to-be-completed PhD (within the last 0–5 years) in Polymer Science, Organic Chemistry, Organometallic Chemistry, or a closely related field. Required experience includes synthesis and characterization of highly air-sensitive transition metal complexes, polymer synthesis, understanding of kinetics and thermodynamics in catalysis, mechanism-focused experimental design, strong scientific communication, and hands-on use of GPC, rheology, and NMR.

This is a paid full-time postdoctoral role. Argonne lists an expected hiring range of $72,879–$121,465 and notes that comprehensive benefits are part of the total rewards package.

Applicants should use the online Workday application link in the posting. No application deadline is stated in the text. For questions or application support, the posting provides the contact email [email protected].
