About this position
The Office of Research and Innovation at Virginia Tech is seeking a postdoctoral associate to help explore how artificial intelligence tools could support research administration and research development across the university. The project is centered on engaging stakeholders, understanding current needs and pain points, and developing a medium-term plan for responsible AI use in administrative and research-support workflows.
The successful candidate will work with ORI Information Technology, Electronic Research Administration, and Data & Analytics teams to identify opportunities for AI-enabled support, build sustainable solutions, and share best practices. The role is oriented toward improving the research environment through better research intelligence, stronger compliance support, more scalable support services, and reduced administrative burden for faculty and staff.
This is an applied, cross-functional position within Virginia Tech’s Office of Research and Innovation, a major unit in a large land-grant research university with extensive research activity and a broad institutional research ecosystem.
