About this position
The University of Miami’s Department of Chemical, Environmental and Materials Engineering is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate for an on-site, full-time research position in Coral Gables, Florida, United States.
The appointee will develop and characterize nanoporous materials—including metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), covalent organic frameworks (COFs), zeolites, and related porous materials—for photocatalytic water purification and contaminant removal. Responsibilities include designing and synthesizing materials; performing X-ray diffraction, spectroscopy, adsorption measurements, and other characterization; planning experiments; analyzing data and structure–property relationships; and maintaining reproducible protocols.
The postdoctoral researcher will also generate preliminary results for publications and external funding proposals, prepare manuscripts, reports, and presentations, mentor students in experimental techniques and data analysis, and collaborate across disciplines.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, or a closely related field. Preferred qualifications include experience with MOF or porous-material synthesis and characterization, adsorption, separation, molecular recognition, photocatalysis, XRD, spectroscopy, adsorption analysis, or electrochemical methods. Strong experimental design, data analysis, scientific writing, collaboration, and student mentoring skills are desired.
The position is listed as a full-time, research-limited-term appointment. No stipend, salary, tuition coverage, or other funding details are provided in the posting. Applications should be submitted through the University of Miami Workday portal.
