About this position

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Associate for the Rongo Laboratory in the Waksman Institute of Microbiology and the Department of Genetics at the New Brunswick campus in Piscataway, New Jersey, United States.

The externally funded research program investigates neuronal stress responses, the hypoxia-response pathway, nervous-system function, and organismal adaptation using the model organism C. elegans. The postdoctoral researcher will conduct grant-funded research under the direction of the laboratory Principal Investigator, Dr. Rongo. Methods may include C. elegans genetics and husbandry, biochemical experiments, recombinant DNA, phenotypic analysis, epifluorescence and confocal microscopy, high-throughput genomics, proteomics including mass spectrometry, and metabolomics.

The researcher will analyze and publish findings, contribute preliminary data to grant proposals, and help train and oversee undergraduate researchers in genetics, biochemistry, molecular biology, microscopy, genomics, and laboratory practice.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in biology or a related field and multiple years of relevant academic research experience, together with mentoring or teaching experience. Preferred expertise includes C. elegans genetics, hypoxia biology, nervous-system function and development, metabolism, and transcriptional or translational regulation. The listed salary is $68,000, with eligible Rutgers employees receiving comprehensive benefits.
