About this position
Cornell University’s Cornell Laboratory for Accelerator-based Sciences and Education (CLASSE) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate to join its high energy theory group. The position is based in Ithaca, New York, with an anticipated start in fall 2027.
The postdoctoral researcher will pursue an independent research program focused primarily on quantum gravity, including the quantum aspects of black holes and cosmology. Related research in quantum field theory and string theory is also welcomed. Applications aligned with the research areas of the theory faculty will be considered.
Cornell’s high energy theory group provides a broad research environment spanning electroweak symmetry breaking, collider physics, flavor physics, physics beyond the Standard Model, lattice gauge theory, quantum gravity, string theory, cosmology, quantum field theory, and quantum information. The postdoctoral associate will collaborate with faculty and other members of the group while contributing to an interactive theoretical physics community.
Faculty listed in connection with the group include Yiming Chen, Csaba Csaki, Paul Ginsparg, Yuval Grossman, André LeClair, Peter Lepage, Liam McAllister, and Maxim Perelstein. CLASSE studies the physical world and universe using X-rays and high-energy electron and proton beams, with research spanning accelerator science, particle physics, solar-cell materials, DNA folding, and cosmology.
