Position Summary:
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate in the Feng-P53 Tumor Suppression Laboratory at the Rutgers Cancer Institute.
The primary purpose of the Postdoctoral Associate position is to conduct independent laboratory research under the direction of the Principal Investigator. The research interest of the Feng lab is to study the development and progression of cancer, including cancer metastasis, cancer metabolic reprogramming and tumor microenvironment. Specific research directions in the lab include: 1) the regulation and function of tumor suppressor p53 and its gain-of-function mutants in cancer; 2) the role of tumor suppressors, including p53 and its target genes, in tumor microenvironment and tumor immunology.
Among the key duties for this position are the following:
- Works under the direction of the Principal Investigator.
- Carries out various experimental and bioinformatics studies in the area of the regulation and function of tumor suppressor p53 and its gain-of-function mutants in cancer, as well as the role of tumor suppressors including p53 and its target genes in the tumor microenvironment and tumor immunology.
- Prepares written reports of research experiments.
- Prepares grant proposals based on research conducted.
- Gives oral presentations of the research.
- Must possess effective oral and written communication skills and ability to publish scientific research papers/articles.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- PhD degree required.
- Strong background in molecular biology and cancer biology, required.
- ABD candidates may be considered; qualified candidates must be in the process of completing or have finished the training for Ph.D. and/or M.D.
- Candidates must provide proof all requirements have been fulfilled before their position start date.

- Lifting up to 25 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT :
- Lab environment. Moderate noise.
- Exposure to blood, excrement, antineoplastic drugs and possible exposure to infectious and communicable diseases.
- Universal precautions are mandatory.
- Exposure to hazardous chemicals.
