About this position
Virginia Tech’s Physics Department is inviting applications for a postdoctoral associate or senior research associate in theoretical Quantum Information Science. The position centers on research in quantum computing and quantum simulation, quantum networks, and quantum control, with an additional opportunity to test theoretical ideas on cloud quantum processors.
The successful researcher will join the quantum information groups of Prof. Sophia Economou and Prof. Edwin Barnes at Virginia Tech. The advert emphasizes a collaborative research setting with connections to experimental and theory groups worldwide, as well as to the DOE Quantum Center “Codesign for quantum advantage”, where the group is involved in broader center-based collaboration.
The role is research-focused and includes publishing results in journals and presenting at conferences. For the senior research associate level, the position also includes mentoring junior group members and potentially supporting the principal investigators with grant-related tasks. The advert highlights opportunities for collaboration, travel, and engagement with an active quantum information research environment.
