About this position

Politecnico di Milano is offering one postdoctoral contract in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Polo Territoriale di Lecco. The project is centered on the design and development of scientific instruments and innovative measurement techniques for space applications, within the MOVIDA project (MOon Volatile Investigator and Dust Analyser).

The research focuses on developing new instrumentation and measurement methods in mechanical and thermal measurements for use in space. The appointed researcher will work on the conceptual definition, design, and experimental validation of instruments and techniques intended for artificial satellites, including missions in Earth orbit and planetary exploration. A particular emphasis is placed on the lunar environment, with work based on thermo-structural modelling to optimise performance and improve the signal-to-noise ratio.

Alongside the research component, the postdoctoral researcher will also take part in teaching-related activities connected with advanced signal processing for scientific instruments and advanced measurement systems. The position sits within the academic and research environment of the Politecnico di Milano’s mechanical engineering community, linked to a funded space-related research programme.

The appointment is for 24 months and is connected to the funded MOVIDA project under the ASI-INAF agreement.
