About this position
Politecnico di Milano is offering one postdoctoral contract in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Milano campus. The project sits in the scientific area of hydraulics and hydrology and is centered on flood risk modelling.
The researcher will work on the modelling of flood hazard and risk for risk management purposes in both ordinary and emergency conditions. The activity includes developing hydraulic models and methods for estimating flood damage to exposed elements across multiple case studies, with the goal of integrating modelling outputs into decision-making processes for flood-risk management.
In the early phase of the appointment, the postdoc will contribute to the DROP project, a co-designed decision-support system and set of solutions for flood resilience funded by Fondazione Cariplo. This phase is aimed at supporting the project team in defining risk-management strategies for the study area.
The position is embedded in DICA’s research and teaching environment and also includes support to teaching activities in Hydraulics, Fluid Mechanics, and Flood Risk.
The contract is based at Piazza Leonardo da Vinci 32, Milan, within a research context combining flood modelling, applied risk analysis, and teaching support.
