About this position
Colorado State University is hiring a Postdoctoral Research Associate / Postdoctoral Fellow in the Ceramic Materials Group at the Mechanical Engineering Department. The position focuses on advanced manufacturing of critical engineering ceramic materials and/or advanced materials for electrochemical energy conversion and storage, making it a strong fit for candidates with backgrounds in Materials Science and Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Applied Physics.
The research is hands-on and experimental. The selected fellow will design, execute, and troubleshoot experiments; develop new materials, processing methods, instrumentation, and characterization approaches; analyze complex datasets; and help generate publications, conference presentations, and new research proposals. There is also an opportunity to mentor graduate and undergraduate researchers.
Eligibility requirements are clear and competitive: a Ph.D. in a closely related field, a strong publication record with at least three first-author peer-reviewed papers in related topics, and demonstrated ability to independently run experimental research. Strong scientific writing and communication skills are required, along with the ability to work both independently and in a multidisciplinary team. Preferred experience includes advanced materials processing, ceramics, electrochemical materials/devices, instrumentation development, proposal writing, and mentoring.
This is a full-time, fully on-site position in Fort Collins, Colorado, United States. The salary range is $55,000–$70,000 per year. Applicants must also be legally authorized to work in the U.S. by the start date and have a valid driver’s license.
