About this position
Postdoctoral Fellow, Biology Landeta Lab at Indiana University Bloomington (Department of Biology, IU Bloomington Biology) is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to join the Landeta Lab in microbiology.
The project focuses on oxidative protein folding in the bacterial cell envelope, with emphasis on redox membrane proteins, DsbA substrates, proteomics, and inhibitor discovery. The lab’s broader goals include understanding novel oxidative reactions, substrate specificity among thiol-disulfide oxidoreductases, and identifying inhibitors against oxidative folding in pathogens. The work includes in vitro inhibitor assays, cysteine enrichment of DsbA substrates in E. coli and Mycobacteria, comparative studies of DsbA proteins in E. coli and M. smegmatis, and inhibitor-protein crystallography in collaboration with Prof. Weikai Li.
Applicants should have a PhD in microbiology, biochemistry, biology, or a related field. Desired experience includes microbial genetics, protein purification, in vitro assays, molecular biology, and proteomics. Strong initiative, organization, time management, professionalism, and communication skills are emphasized.
Funding includes a stipend commensurate with experience, health insurance, and full benefits. The initial appointment is for 1 year, with possible reappointment for up to 3 years based on performance.
