About this position
Postdoctoral Fellow, Biology Han Lab at Indiana University Bloomington.
The Han Lab in the Department of Biology is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to work on spatial RNA localization in neurons, with a strong emphasis on molecular biology, chemical biology, CRISPR, mouse models, and RNA localization profiling/imaging/manipulation. The project is tied to an NIH DP1 grant on interrogating RNA localization and local translation during synaptic plasticity induced by opioid use disorder.
Core work includes maintaining an oral oxycodone self-administration mouse model, performing brain dissection and immunofluorescence imaging of mouse brain slices, AAV injection, synaptosome isolation, and RNA/protein analysis. The lab also expects mentoring of graduate students, manuscript and protocol writing, and strong independent research ability.
Eligibility highlights: Ph.D. in Biology or a related field is required, or the applicant must be on track to complete the degree within the coming year; the Ph.D. must be completed before the start date. Required skills include mouse breeding/maintenance, brain dissection, mouse brain slice staining and imaging, and AAV injection. Preferred experience includes synaptosome preparation, RNA purification and library prep, RNA-seq analysis, smFISH, and substance-use-disorder-related research.
Funding: Salary and benefits follow NIH and Indiana University postdoctoral guidelines. The initial appointment is for 1 year, with possible reappointment for up to 4 years based on satisfactory performance.
Application: Submit a cover letter, CV/resume, and three references through the application portal. Review begins on 2026-12-01 and continues until filled. The ideal start date is 2027-06-01.
