About this position

The University of Hong Kong is inviting applications for several Postdoctoral Fellow positions in the Department of Civil Engineering. This opportunity is centered on smart construction and transportation engineering, with a strong emphasis on research that improves the safety and efficiency of transporting large construction components.

Successful candidates will contribute to literature review, user requirements analysis, and system engineering design, while also pursuing one of four research directions: IoT research and development (sensor integration and communication improvement); real-time monitoring and early warning algorithms for transportation safety; cargo stability monitoring for large construction component transport; or just-in-time fleet coordination for transport logistics.

The post is suitable for candidates with a PhD in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline. Applicants should have strong publication and project experience relevant to the advertised research areas, be able to conduct field tests, work independently, and collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams.

The position starts as soon as possible, initially for 1 year, with the possibility of renewal depending on satisfactory performance and funding availability. The university offers a competitive salary, annual leave, medical benefits, and free access to on-campus gyms and libraries, along with support for publications, conferences, and career development.

Applications must be submitted online via the University of Hong Kong Careers site with an up-to-date CV. Review begins immediately and continues until 31 December 2026 or until the post is filled.
