About this position
Mohammed VI Polytechnic University is seeking a postdoctoral fellow for an interdisciplinary project on omics and soil microbiome research. The two-year project focuses on metaproteomic analysis of soil microbial communities and aims to identify genes and enzymes that can mitigate salinity stress, improve soil health, and support crop productivity.
The research contributes to the development of biofertilizers and sustainable agricultural strategies addressing soil degradation and salinization. The fellow will work across field trials, greenhouse experiments, and laboratory settings using state-of-the-art metaproteomics, genomic sequencing, bioinformatics, and functional microbiome approaches.
A central theme is the interaction between rhizosphere microbiota and plant roots. The researcher will investigate how microbial enzymes support plant stress tolerance under saline conditions, identify functional pathways related to nutrient acquisition and stress adaptation, and examine plant-microbe responses to salinity. The role also includes collaboration on biofertilizer development incorporating beneficial microbial enzymes.
The position offers an interdisciplinary research environment connecting soil science, microbiology, plant science, environmental science, microbial ecology, and multi-omics analysis at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in Benguerir, Morocco.
