About this position
Neuroscience Research Australia (NeuRA) is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the Devenney team in Randwick, Sydney. The project focuses on preclinical dementia risk and resilience, and on identifying early disease-related changes before overt cognitive impairment develops.
The fellow will work across rich, well-characterised clinical and research cohorts, using longitudinal and multimodal data to investigate factors associated with dementia risk and resilience. Research may integrate clinical, cognitive, neuroimaging, fluid biomarker, genetic, digital and other physiological measures.
Key research activities include developing research questions and analysis plans, conducting rigorous and reproducible analyses of cross-sectional and longitudinal datasets, integrating findings across data modalities, and translating results into clinically meaningful insights. The fellow will prepare manuscripts, abstracts and reports and contribute to the broader research program through study development, grant applications, ethics and governance activities, protocols and research documentation.
The role also includes participant-facing research and collaboration with clinicians, researchers, participants, people at risk of or living with dementia, families and external partners. Depending on project needs, the fellow may support recruitment, consent, assessment and longitudinal follow-up, coordinate research priorities and milestones, and mentor junior staff and students.
NeuRA provides an independent, not-for-profit neuroscience research environment in Sydney, bringing together clinical, laboratory, data and research teams. This opportunity is suited to an early-career researcher seeking to develop a research profile and leadership in dementia, cognitive neurology, neurodegeneration and quantitative clinical research.
