About this position

Neuroscience Research Australia (NeuRA) is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the Devenney team and contribute to a Centre of Excellence biomarker program in dementia and related neurodegenerative diseases. The role is based at NeuRA's world-class research facilities in Randwick, Sydney, Australia.

The successful researcher will lead biomarker discovery and multimodal data analysis across well-characterised clinical and research cohorts. Research activities will integrate biomarker data with clinical, cognitive, imaging, genetic and longitudinal measures to identify, replicate and evaluate individual biomarkers and multimarker signatures with diagnostic, prognostic and potential clinical relevance.

This is a translational neuroscience opportunity at the intersection of dementia research, data science, biostatistics, bioinformatics, biobanking and laboratory science. Responsibilities include developing research questions, study protocols and statistical analysis plans; building reproducible analytical pipelines; supporting assay planning and quality control; coordinating samples and data; contributing to biobank integration, ethics submissions, grants, publications and research reports; and collaborating with clinical, laboratory, academic and external partners.

Applicants must have a completed or near-completed PhD in a relevant discipline and experience analysing complex health or biomarker data with R, Python, Stata or equivalent software. Experience in dementia, ageing, neurodegeneration, biomarker validation, omics, machine learning, multimodal data integration, biobanks or clinical datasets is advantageous. The position is offered on a contract/temp basis with a base salary of $111,498.21 plus 12% superannuation, totalling $124,878.00. Applicants must have the right to live and work in Australia.
