This postdoctoral opportunity at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) offers two positions for talented researchers to join the Sustainable Materials Research Center (SusMaT-RC) in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The project focuses on the development of multifunctional, bio-sourced hydrogels for agricultural applications, leveraging locally abundant biomass and sustainable processing pathways. Successful candidates will work under the supervision of Professor Youssef Habibi and will be expected to contribute expertise in hydrogel formulation, (bio)polymer processing, and the development and characterization of porous materials. The role involves rigorous experimental work, collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, and the use of advanced analytical, spectroscopic, and microscopic techniques. Responsibilities also include maintaining detailed research records, preparing technical reports and scientific publications, and contributing to research proposals and funding applications. The position may require short-term travel to the United States for collaborative assignments.
Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in a relevant field such as chemistry, polymer science, materials science and engineering, or related disciplines. Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills are essential, as is proficiency in English. Experience supervising students and a demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks are highly valued.
