About this position
The Materials Modeling & Microscopy (M-cube) Group at Washington University in St. Louis, led by Associate Professor Rohan Mishra, is seeking a talented Postdoctoral Scholar for advanced research in electron microscopy of electronic materials. The position focuses on atomic-scale STEM imaging and spectroscopy, particularly using the group's new aberration-corrected JEOL GrandARM-2 STEM, which includes in-situ biasing, cooling, and heating capabilities. Research areas include ferroelectrics, antiferroelectrics, and emerging semiconductors, with opportunities to integrate atomic-scale characterization with atomistic modeling.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative, multi-PI, multi-institution research environment, working closely with synthesis and property characterization teams. The postdoc will also have the chance to co-mentor Ph.D. students, present at international conferences, and develop independent research directions. The position is ideal for candidates with strong experience in aberration-corrected STEM and a desire to collaborate across synthesis, characterization, and modeling teams.
Applicants must hold a recent Ph.D. in Materials Science, Physics, or a related field, and demonstrate expertise in aberration-corrected STEM imaging and spectroscopy. Preferred qualifications include experience with in-situ STEM (biasing, cooling, heating) and/or machine-learning methods for data analysis. The appointment is fully funded, with an initial 1-year term renewable for up to 3 years, and includes support for conference travel.
Washington University in St. Louis is a leading private research university with a vibrant academic community and excellent research facilities. The campus is located in St. Louis, Missouri, a city known for its livability and affordability.
