Description

The 'Microbiota, Gut and Inflammation' team at the St Antoine Research Center, affiliated with Sorbonne Université and Inserm in Paris, is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with expertise in bioinformatics and microbiome analysis. The research group, led by Professor Harry Sokol, investigates the complex interactions between gut microbiota and host in both health and disease, with a particular focus on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team that includes microbiologists, cell biologists, immunologists, biochemists, clinicians, and other bioinformaticians. The primary responsibilities will involve leading several projects centered on the analysis of human gut microbiota sequencing data, as well as integrating other omics datasets such as transcriptomics and metabolomics. The postdoc will also provide bioinformatics expertise to other lab members and external collaborators. Applicants should have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent in bioinformatics, computational biology, or a related discipline, with demonstrated experience in analyzing shotgun metagenomics and other omics data. Theoretical knowledge in microbiology and/or immunology is desirable. Strong programming and scripting skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to work independently are essential. The working language is English, and proficiency in both written and spoken English is required. The position offers a stimulating, interdisciplinary, and well-funded research environment in a vibrant area of Paris. The initial contract is for up to two years, with the possibility of extension up to four years and the opportunity to apply for a permanent position. The successful candidate will have the chance to publish scientific manuscripts, expand their expertise, and build a strong professional network. Funding is provided through Horizon Europe. Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, CV, and three references to Professor Harry Sokol at harry.sokol@gmail.com by December 15th, 2025, with 'Bioinformatics Post doc application' in the subject line.
