The Institute of Hematology and Center for Hemato-Oncology Research at the University and Hospital of Perugia, Italy, is offering a postdoctoral position in bioinformatics focused on the genomics of lymphoma and leukemia. The research group, led by Professor Enrico Tiacci, specializes in elucidating the pathogenesis of human lymphomas and leukemias—particularly Hodgkin lymphoma and hairy cell leukemia—through advanced genomics analyses. The group aims to translate these discoveries into clinical practice by developing precision diagnostic and therapeutic tools, as demonstrated by numerous high-impact publications in journals such as NEJM, Blood, and JCO.

The Center for Hemato-Oncology Research is a newly constructed facility featuring state-of-the-art laboratories and technology platforms, located adjacent to a major academic hematological clinic. The research environment is highly collaborative, with multiple principal investigators and access to key core facilities including deep sequencing, flow cytometry, cell sorting, and hematopathology. The group has a strong track record of securing international grants from organizations such as the European Research Council and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

The successful candidate will join a stimulating, biology- and molecular medicine-oriented environment. Applicants should have a PhD or equivalent research experience in bioinformatics, computational biology, or related fields. Essential qualifications include prior experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS), ideally in cancer genetics, and familiarity with the analysis of whole-exome/whole-genome sequencing, RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, CUT&RUN-seq, ATAC-seq, and HiC-seq data. Candidates must be proficient in NGS tools, algorithms, and pipelines, Unix/Linux operating systems, RAID and server systems, and possess strong scripting/programming skills (R, Python, Bash, Next-Flow). A good command of English and a proactive, creative, and problem-solving attitude are required.

The position is a full-time post-doctoral research fellowship (40 hours/week), with a stipend that varies based on expertise and track record.
