About this position
Aarhus University is advertising a postdoctoral position in landscape biogeochemical C, N, and water modeling at the Land-CRAFT Center within the Department of Agroecology, Faculty of Technical Sciences, in Denmark.
The project focuses on the exchange of nitrogen, carbon, and water between the biosphere, atmosphere, and hydrosphere from field to regional and national scales. The successful candidate will work with biogeochemical modeling, remote sensing, and machine learning / AI to improve understanding of nutrient flows in agricultural landscapes and to explore mitigation pathways under climate change constraints.
Research themes include agricultural ecosystems, environmental data, uncertainty quantification, scenario analysis, and development of databases for environmental and agricultural information, with Denmark used as a test bed for wider EU application. The postdoc is also expected to support training of young researchers, contribute to international publications, and help develop new project ideas and proposals.
Eligibility highlights: a PhD in agronomy, engineering, biology, technical sciences, or a related area; experience with process-based and ML models; strong R/Python programming skills; English communication ability; and a record of peer-reviewed publishing. Experience with remote sensing and digital technologies is preferred.
Funding and terms: fixed-term full-time appointment for three years, starting 1 August 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. Salary depends on seniority under Danish collective agreements.
Deadline: 20 May 2026, 23:59 CEST.
