About this position
The Bacterial Metabolomics Group within the Cluster of Excellence Controlling Microbes to Fight Infections at the University of Tübingen is seeking a postdoctoral researcher in mass spectrometry-based metabolomics.
The research focuses on understanding how bacteria regulate their metabolism by combining high-throughput LC-MS/MS metabolomics with CRISPR-based genetic screens. The work has applications in antimicrobial resistance, microbiome research, and synthetic microbiology.
The postdoctoral researcher will develop cutting-edge targeted and untargeted high-throughput metabolomics methods, including approaches for measuring the metabolomes of large mutant libraries and genetic screens. The role also involves planning, measuring, and analyzing metabolomics experiments with collaboration partners, from experimental design and sample preparation through data interpretation.
A major component of the position is coordinating metabolomics collaborations across the CMFI Cluster of Excellence, research groups at the University of Tübingen, and external academic and industrial partners. The researcher will maintain and further develop three LC-MS/MS systems and associated data-analysis pipelines, while training and supervising PhD students, master’s students, and collaborators in metabolomics workflows.
The group is headed by Professor Hannes Link and operates in an interdisciplinary research environment spanning bacterial biology, analytical chemistry, biotechnology, microbiology, mass spectrometry, and computational data analysis.
