About this position

Stanford University is advertising an open postdoctoral position in the labs of Juliet Knowles and Frank Longo at Stanford Medicine, within the Departments of Neurology and Neurological Sciences and the Neuroscience Institute.

The project focuses on multi-omics integration to derive biomarkers for neurodegenerative disease, with emphasis on BPAN (beta-propeller protein associated neurodegeneration), Parkinson’s disease, and Alzheimer’s disease. The work uses single-nucleus RNA sequencing (snRNAseq), proteomics, human iPSC-derived neurons, animal models, and human plasma, and includes computational pipeline development and AI-based analysis.

The successful candidate will help obtain samples, build and run bioinformatics workflows, integrate AI-based methods to identify disease signatures, and evaluate therapeutic effects on biomarkers in preclinical studies. The post is described as collaborative, well-resourced, and mentorship-focused.

Eligibility highlights: a PhD in a relevant field such as Neurosciences, Biochemistry, or Bioinformatics; strong experience with bioinformatics, AI-based tools, and omics data analysis; and evidence of publication. The appointment is for 1 year, renewable, with pay at the Stanford postdoctoral minimum (FY27 minimum $79,056).

To apply, email a CV, a one-page statement of interest, and three references (including your PhD thesis advisor) to Salome Pagoada at [email protected] using the specified subject line.
