About this position
Uppsala University invites applications for a full-time postdoctoral position in quantum matter theory, specializing in unconventional superconductivity and quantum geometry. The appointment is based in the Department of Physics and Astronomy within the Quantum Matter Theory research program and will be located in Uppsala, Sweden.
The successful researcher will join Prof. Annica Black-Schaffer's research group, which studies quantum condensed matter, unconventional superconductivity, topological matter, nonequilibrium phenomena, strongly correlated systems, and quantum information. The project combines numerical simulations with analytical approaches to investigate quantum geometric aspects of unconventional superconductors. The postdoctoral researcher will work independently and collaboratively with group members and external partners.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in physics or a closely related field by the start of employment. The degree should normally have been awarded no more than three years before the application deadline, subject to deductions for qualifying career interruptions. A strong theoretical background in unconventional superconductivity and quantum geometry applied to condensed matter systems is required, as is fluency in written and spoken English. Independence, motivation, organizational ability, teamwork, publication experience, and presentation skills are valued; analytical and numerical expertise and relevant postdoctoral experience are advantageous.
The position is a 100% temporary appointment for two years, with a possible one-year extension. The anticipated start date is 1 May 2027 or by agreement. Submit a CV, publication list, research statement, and answers to the application questions through Uppsala University's recruitment system by 20 November 2026.
