About this position

University of Zurich is advertising an open postdoctoral position in skin morphogenesis in the laboratory of Prof. Lukas Sommer at the Institute of Anatomy. The project is part of the interdisciplinary SKINTEGRITY.CH consortium and focuses on neural crest stem cell biology, skin development, tissue repair, regeneration, and tumorigenesis.

The research builds on recent findings that de-differentiated peripheral glia drive wound healing in adult skin and now aims to uncover how glial cells shape the skin microenvironment during development. The work combines single-cell, spatial, and functional approaches to map glial influences across diverse cell types and to study the transition from scarless to scarring repair.

This is a fully funded postdoctoral position supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation. The appointment is available for at least 3 years and is based at the University of Zurich in Switzerland.

Eligible candidates should hold a PhD, MD-PhD, or equivalent degree in the life sciences. The ideal profile includes a strong publication record, especially first-author papers in major journals, and experience with cell culture, genetic mouse models, functional genomics, and high-dimensional data analysis. Backgrounds in embryology and/or skin biology are highly desirable, along with the ability to work independently in an interdisciplinary environment.

To apply, prepare a single PDF with your CV, publication list, motivation letter, and the names and email addresses of three references. Submit the application through the UZH job portal via the APPLY NOW button.
