About this position

The Roy Lab at the University of Utah School of Medicine is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join their team in the Department of Pathology. The research focuses on investigating the immune response to viral and/or gut infections, with a particular emphasis on B cell responses and their implications for chronic diseases such as cancer and autoimmunity. The lab aims to uncover molecular mechanisms that foster effective immune memory while preventing the development of chronic diseases, ultimately contributing to therapeutic strategies.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD awarded within the past two years and expertise in viral immunology, mucosal immunology, or cancer immunology. Required skills include multicolor flow cytometry, experience with infection in mice and isolating immune organs, and knowledge of antibody and memory B cell responses. Additional preferred qualifications include knowledge in molecular immunology or cell signaling pathways and experience with retroviral/lentiviral transduction in immune cells.

Responsibilities include designing and conducting mouse experiments, culturing immune cells, gene knockout studies, data analysis, manuscript preparation, and presenting findings at meetings and conferences. The position offers opportunities for cross-disciplinary research, mentorship, grant writing, and networking within and outside the institution. The Roy Lab is NIH-funded and committed to providing quality training for postdoctoral scholars and students.

The position is full-time with a salary range of $62,232 - $65,640 per year and includes benefits through the University of Utah. Applications are accepted until December 22, 2025, or until the position is filled. Interested candidates should submit a CV and cover letter to Dr. Koushik Roy or apply via the university's job portal. The University of Utah is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity employer and encourages applications from all qualified individuals.
