About this position
The University of Bristol is offering a postdoctoral Research Associate opportunity in the Bristol Platelet Group, led by Professor Ingeborg Hers. The successful researcher will join a multidisciplinary PROTAC research team investigating targeted protein degradation in human platelets.
The industry-funded project will examine how degrading Bruton’s tyrosine kinase (BTK) compares with inhibiting its kinase activity, and what these differences mean for platelet function and thrombosis. The work will involve comparing the functional consequences of a range of PROTAC degraders with conventional kinase inhibitors.
Applicants should have a recently awarded or imminent PhD in biomedical sciences or a relevant discipline. Experience with cell culture, western blotting, FACS and confocal microscopy is sought, along with enthusiasm for cellular mechanisms, methodological development and solving research challenges. Candidates should be able to work independently and collaboratively and demonstrate strong communication skills. Experience in platelet functional analysis and PROTAC research is highly desirable.
The position is based in Bristol, United Kingdom, at the University of Bristol. Applications are due by 10 November 2026. The post does not state a salary, stipend or tuition arrangements; it identifies the research project as industry funded.
