About this position
The University of York is seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate in Immunology to join Dr Ioannis Kourtzelis’s group at Hull York Medical School.
The project examines the regulation of innate immune responses and macrophage-mediated mechanisms that shape health and disease. As part of the ARIA-funded Sustained Viral Resilience programme, the successful researcher will investigate sustained innate immunoprophylactics based on engineered lipid nanoparticles targeting lung-mediated immune regulation.
The postdoctoral researcher will lead the project’s animal studies and collaborate with researchers across a consortium involving the Universities of York, Cambridge, Birmingham, University College London, King’s College London, and Queen Mary University of London. The role is based at the University of York campus, with some remote working options available.
Applicants should hold a PhD in biomedical sciences or a related field focused on immunology. Essential expertise includes mouse models, cellular immunology, flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy, and a strong understanding of contemporary immunology. Experience in independent and collaborative research, publication writing, and future research-funding activity is also expected.
This fixed-term, full-time position offers a salary of £38,448–£46,970 per year. The anticipated start date is March–April 2027, and the current funding phase ends on 31 May 2030. Applications should be submitted by 13 November 2026.
