About this position
Texas A&M AgriLife Research is recruiting a full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate in Dallas, Texas, within the Institute for Advancing Health Through Agriculture’s Healthy Living program. The two-year position will work directly with Principal Investigator Dr. Alexandra (Lexi) MacMillan Uribe on an NIH/NHLBI-funded longitudinal study of pay-what-you-can community restaurants and coronary heart disease-related outcomes among guests experiencing food insecurity and hypertension.
The research uses a prospective natural-experiment design and a mixed-methods RE-AIM process evaluation. Study outcomes include blood pressure, blood lipids, blood glucose, waist-to-height ratio, diet quality, psychological stress, food security, and nutrition security. The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to community-based data collection and analysis, presentations, peer-reviewed publications, project development, grant proposals, and related community-engaged studies addressing health equity, health disparities, nutrition, food access, chronic disease prevention, and behavioral interventions.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in a related discipline such as public health or nutrition; ABD candidates and those awaiting diploma issuance may be considered. Relevant experience with human subjects research, qualitative or quantitative analysis, publications, scientific presentations, and independent project work is expected. Experience with underserved or food-insecure populations, minority and urban health, community-based interventions, statistical tools, manuscript preparation, and extramural funding is preferred.
The appointment is funded through NIH/NHLBI R01HL180934, with salary commensurate with qualifications. Professional development and training geared toward a future faculty career will be provided. The role is available immediately, although the start date is negotiable for a strong candidate.
