About this position
Texas A&M AgriLife Research is recruiting a full-time, on-site Postdoctoral Research Associate in Uvalde, Texas. The project focuses on crop evapotranspiration (ET) monitoring, soil moisture sensing, crop modeling, and irrigation management for cotton, spinach, onions, corn, and other field and high-value crops.
The postdoctoral researcher will work in a collaborative field research team using eddy covariance ET sensors, crop root-zone soil moisture sensors, sensor data telemetry, web-based ET modules, and computer and mathematical models. Responsibilities include designing and conducting experiments, installing and maintaining field equipment, documenting seasonal crop water use, collecting plant and biochemical samples, analyzing scientific data, preparing peer-reviewed publications and technical reports, and presenting results at field days and professional conferences. The role also includes mentoring student and graduate researchers and participating in planting, weeding, irrigation, and harvesting activities.
Applicants must have a PhD in crop physiology, ecology, hydrology, or agricultural engineering, along with research, experimental design, statistical analysis, scientific writing, and peer-reviewed publication experience. A valid driver’s license is required because the position involves travel to field plots, growers’ farms, and conference locations in Texas and other states. Candidates must be prepared for outdoor work in variable weather, occasional weekends or work beyond normal hours, and lifting objects up to 50 pounds.

The position is not eligible for remote work. Benefits include insurance contributions, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave, retirement enrollment, wellness resources, and professional development opportunities.
Apply via the Texas A&M AgriLife Workday portal with a complete application, CV/resume, cover letter, list of references, and valid driver’s license.
