The Sparks Laboratory at the University of California, Irvine is seeking a postdoctoral scholar to study the molecular and epigenetic mechanisms that guide early human pluripotent stem cell differentiation. The project centers on neural crest and mesoderm lineage specification and aims to define the intermediate cell states and regulatory mechanisms that shape these early developmental decisions. The scholar will work with human embryonic stem cells and pluripotent stem cell differentiation syst...

About this position

Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a full-time, onsite Postdoctoral Research Associate in Developmental Biology at the Washington University Medical Campus in St. Louis, Missouri, USA.

The Carter Lab investigates how evolutionary changes in DNA produced uniquely human biology. Its research combines human and ape stem-cell models, comparative genomics, genome editing, and neuroscience to examine how evolutionary sequence changes influence the brain and placenta. The broader goal is to understand how genome evolution shaped human cognition, reproduction, and disease, and how genetic variation contributes to individual differences.

The postdoctoral researcher will train under a faculty mentor, assist with experimental design, evaluate and report research findings, prepare manuscripts and grant materials, maintain accurate research records, and follow ethical and laboratory standards. The role involves laboratory work with possible biological and chemical hazards and requires standard care of research animals.

A Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree is required. No specific prior work experience or professional license is required. Preferred capabilities include collaboration, data analysis and interpretation, experimentation, laboratory techniques, laboratory operations, research, scientific writing, and results reporting.

The salary is $64,380 per year, commensurate with experience. The appointment is subject to a five-year term limit, including previous postdoctoral experience, and includes university employee benefits such as health insurance, retirement contributions, leave, transit benefits, and wellness programs.

Applications should be submitted through the Washington University Workday portal. No application deadline is stated in the listing.
