About this position
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, United States, is recruiting a full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate in Developmental Neurobiology.
The project investigates neural circuit mechanisms of schizophrenia using behavioral experiments and two-photon laser-scanning microscopy to image neuronal activity in mutant mice and in the auditory systems of behaving mice and rats. The laboratory studies high-risk genetic models of schizophrenia and neural activity across cortical and subcortical regions, including work in awake, head-fixed animals and brain slices.
The successful candidate will join the Department of Developmental Neurobiology and a collaborative research environment with expertise in rodent behavior, brain organoids, in vivo and ex vivo cellular imaging, bioinformatics, genetically engineered animal models, single-cell profiling, and advanced image processing and analysis.
Applicants should have a PhD in neuroscience or a related field. Preference is given to researchers who earned their PhD within the last three years and have in vivo imaging experience. Required qualifications include DeepLabCut or similar methods, hands-on two-photon imaging experience, time-series data analysis, strong communication skills, and collaborative working ability. Computational neuroscience and machine-learning data-mining experience are advantageous.
The salary is commensurate with experience. Applications should be submitted through the external Nature Careers application listing by 1 January 2027.
