About this position
The postdoctoral researcher will join the Dudka Lab at Lehigh University to lead experimental work on the evolutionary mechanisms that shape chromosome segregation in mammals. The project centers on how rapid evolution affects centromere biology, genome stability, and female reproduction, using systems such as mouse oocytes, preimplantation embryos, hybrid mouse models, and mammalian tissue culture cells.
The role combines independent and collaborative research across several experimental approaches. The successful candidate will design, execute, and analyze experiments involving mouse oocytes and embryos, including microinjection, as well as mouse and human cell lines. The work may also involve CRISPR-based gene editing, immunofluorescence, confocal imaging, and quantitative analysis of molecular and cellular phenotypes.
The position is based in a research environment that emphasizes publication, presentation, mentorship, and collaborative scholarship. The postdoc will prepare manuscripts and conference presentations, contribute to grant development, and help mentor graduate and undergraduate students. The lab is positioned within an inclusive academic setting at Lehigh University and supports engagement through seminars, workshops, and broader departmental activities.

What's required
Doctoral degree or near completion in cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, developmental biology, evolutionary biology, or a closely related field by the start of the appointment. Strong background in cell biology with experience in one or more of molecular biology, CRISPR-based gene editing, confocal microscopy, mouse genetics, or mouse oocyte/embryo manipulation. Demonstrated research experience and at least one first-author publication in a reputable peer-reviewed journal or a preprint. Strong writing, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are required, along with the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Preferred qualifications include experience with mouse oocyte/embryo microinjection, mammalian cell culture, confocal imaging, CRISPR-based gene editing in mouse/human cells, computational molecular evolution analyses, and quantitative image analysis using Fiji/ImageJ, Python, or R.
