About this position

This postdoctoral position is based in the Department of Marine and Environmental Sciences and the Center for Marine Ecological Genomics at Northeastern University’s Marine Science Center in Nahant, Massachusetts. The successful researcher will join the Lotterhos Lab and contribute to MacroMar, an international consortium building an interoperable database of population genomic data.

The project centers on evolutionary genomics and large-scale synthesis. The postdoc will lead comparative and synthetic analyses across multiple population genomic datasets, with the aim of identifying broad patterns in genetic diversity, population structure, demographic history, and adaptation. The work is designed to produce high-impact publications and offers substantial intellectual independence, making it a strong fit for a researcher who wants to develop an independent scientific voice while collaborating within a larger network.

The role sits within a dynamic interdisciplinary environment spanning evolution, ecology, biogeochemistry, and the environmental sciences. The position involves close collaboration with both wet-lab and computational team members, along with participation in network-wide efforts around data standards, reproducibility, documentation, mentoring, and training. It is an in-person research role with a strong emphasis on collaborative synthesis, open and reproducible analysis, and scholarly publication.

The post is focused on ecological and conservation genomics and on leveraging large-scale population genomic resources to answer comparative questions across taxa and datasets.
