About this position
The Schultz Lab at Lehigh University is recruiting a postdoctoral research associate to lead computational or hybrid wet-lab/computational research at the interface of genomics and evolution. The position centers on understanding the animal tree of life through comparative approaches that connect genome evolution, cell-type evolution, and phylogenomics.
The successful researcher will contribute to projects spanning early animal evolution, deep-sea adaptations, methodological development for cross-species analyses, marine biochemistry, and phylogenomics. The role offers flexibility to pursue work that matches the candidate’s expertise, with potential emphasis on genome assembly and annotation, phylogenetic inference, single-cell and multi-omics approaches, microscopy, and biochemical experimentation.
This is an opportunity to join an interdisciplinary environment that combines genomics, bioinformatics, cellular and molecular biology, and experimental science. The lab’s research includes studies of marine invertebrates, bioluminescence, and chromosome-scale evolutionary questions, with work that may involve field collection of marine organisms and collaborations across computational and experimental directions.
The post is based at Lehigh University and is designed for a scientist who can lead independent and collaborative projects, contribute manuscripts for publication, and participate in a vibrant research setting with opportunities for professional growth.
