About this position
Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Hematology to join a research team at WashU Medicine on the Washington University Medical Campus in St. Louis, Missouri.
The laboratory investigates novel mechanisms regulating platelet and neutrophil activation, as well as their homotypic and heterotypic interactions in thromboinflammatory diseases. The research has relevance to ischemic stroke, sepsis, and atherothrombosis, addressing how blood and immune cells contribute to vascular inflammation and disease progression.
The postdoctoral researcher will study mechanisms regulating platelet activation and aggregation during thromboinflammation. The project combines cellular and vascular biology with cutting-edge experimental approaches, including confocal intravital microscopy, CRISPR-based gene editing, proteomics, and mouse models of human disease. The role offers an opportunity to develop expertise in advanced imaging, molecular manipulation, disease modeling, and the analysis of complex biological interactions.
Working under the supervision of a faculty mentor, the researcher will help design experiments, evaluate and report findings, prepare manuscripts and grant materials, and maintain rigorous research records and laboratory practices. The position is based in a collaborative laboratory environment involving co-trainees, staff, and research-group members, with research conducted according to applicable ethical and university standards.
The work is performed in a laboratory setting that may involve biological and chemical hazards and standard care of research animals. The role is embedded within WashU Medicine’s broader research and training environment in St. Louis.
