About this position
The University of Queensland is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow/Research Officer for an industry-linked project on infrastructure siting and sustainability at the intersection of artificial intelligence, critical minerals and resource optimisation.
Based in the School of Chemical Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology, the researcher will investigate how AI data centres and critical minerals assets can work more effectively together. The project will develop geospatial modelling approaches and interactive decision-support tools for co-locating infrastructure, with particular attention to water and energy optimisation and the sharing of infrastructure and resources.
The role combines applied research with collaboration involving industry, government, professional bodies and wider community stakeholders. The successful researcher will translate modelling and analysis into real-world outcomes, contribute to research projects and funding applications, and build an emerging research profile using rigorous, best-practice methodologies.
The position also provides opportunities to contribute to the supervision and development of Honours and Higher Degree by Research students. The researcher will work within UQ’s interdisciplinary academic community and contribute to a supportive research environment, including appropriate participation in School and University activities and service.
